Environment

At WorkSphere, we believe that traditional business objectives and social and environmental responsibilities must work together to maximize the benefit to all stakeholders. We provide our clients not only with superior products and services, but also with reassurance that we are cognizant of our social and environmental responsibilities.

At WorkSphere, we embrace and value the uniqueness of our co-workers and expect high standards of performance from all, believing that everyone can and should contribute fully. The health of our earth is a responsibility shared by us all. Here are a few examples of what we are doing.

Material Selection
We offer a choice of materials so that our customers can specify and buy green products. WorkSphere’s material choices include wheat board and other fiberboard products from Environ Biocomposites, Marmoleum linoleum products from Forbo, and environmentally friendly plywood and Soliwood products from Vanerum, as well as water-based wood stains and powder coated finishes.

Building Reuse
WorkSphere chose to renovate an existing building in the historic district of downtown Grand Rapids rather than putting up new construction. When we recently outgrew that space, we again chose to renovate a building just down the street from our first home. Both of these locations provide easy access to a park and the Grand Rapids area bus line and are within walking distance of downtown and the entertainment district.

Social Responsibility
WorkSphere works with Mel Trotter Ministries, a local drug rehabilitation program and Goodwill Industries to hire assembly, installation, and janitorial workers. We also work with Junior Achievement, the United Way, the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, and God’s Kitchen, a nearby community-sponsored food program. In addition, we have partnered with two local universities, Kendall College of Art and Design and Grand Valley State University, to offer internships in the areas of graphic design, finance, sales and marketing, operations, and engineering.
